down in the forest we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows hands held higher we'll be on fire singing songs that nobody wrote counting sucks Rayi !! ♥ THREAD ONE ♥ | Astrid nodded. That was fair, she supposed. Although she was surprised to hear of an outsider who actually thought Diamond City was nice. Usually they had plenty of complaints about it. More than a few times she had seen wanderers scoff and toss around insults. Either way, she was satisfied with just knowing that there was someone out there who honestly liked the city. However, she even had her disagreements.
"Well, Diamond City is my home. It isn't much of one, but I've lived here for a few years now. I don't like the way the mayor views some things, but that can't be changed I suppose. A bit of Xenophobia is a small price to pay for relative safety in some people's eyes. Me? I don't like it here, personally. Which is why I want to learn to survive out there." She pointed to the walls. "Most of what I know of the Commonwealth I learned by running for my life through it. Hiding in decrepit houses, watching my back, doing my best to stay alive. Of course, then there are the tumors I hear on occasion that tend to put some of it into perspective. I guess."
She realized she had gone off on a tangent and she shook her head and turned around to ascend the steps up the stands to the wall. "Diamond City has a reputation, and I'm not sure if I want to be factored into that equation anymore." She reached the top of the stairs and braced herself as the wind swept over the wall and made her hair dance around her face. She brushed it out of her eyes and looked out at the Commonwealth.
"I was raised on a farm in the Capital Wasteland. Out there is where I belong. In some small settlement where I can forge my own life with my hands." She leaned over the wall, marveling once again how high it was. She had spent many a day here wishing she had the means to leave.
"Anyway, enough about me." She held out her arms, gesturing to the walls. "The main allure of Diamond City, the wall."

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? Rayi listened quietly as she explained her views of the city. It wasn't the first time he had heard someone claim they didn't like living her. Most that did complain still weren't willing to leave or do anything about it. This girl at least wanted to leave to find someplace that suited her better. Rayi could respect that.
He followed her up the steps to the wall, pausing a moment to look up at her as began to speak again. Finding a small settlement to farm on wouldn't be easy now a day. Not with the war currently going on between the Gunners and Minutemen. Most settlements were getting caught in between. That was often the problem with wars. In a way, the Minutemen were fighting for the safety of all settlements. If the Gunners win the war, no one will ever be safe. Yet even though he knew this, he still had no urge to lend a hand to the Minutemen. He could survive in a world taken over by the Gunners and if he ever found he was in danger, he could just leave. Nothing was holding him down.
Rayi lowered his eyes to the ground before slowly making his way up the rest of the steps, stopping beside her. "Possibly the strongest walls in all of Boston." he replied, not really looking out over the wall. His mind was elsewhere. Part of it was trying to think over what she had said about her goals in life while also attempting to ignore his other half. It was babbling on about her being better off staying in Diamond City, she was girl, blah blah. He truly was a sexiest jerk.
"I think you should go to Sanctuary." Rayi spoke up after a moment, finally lifting his eyes to the view, "It's well protected and would provide your best shot to getting your own settlement someday. The Minutemen are helpful that way." He turned to her, offering a very small smile before letting it fade away. "Not as safe as here though. There would be a chance of the Gunners showing up to slaughter everyone. They don't take prisoners."

down in the forest we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows hands held higher we'll be on fire singing songs that nobody wrote counting sucks Rayi !! ♥ THREAD ONE ♥ | Astrid didn't remember much of the settlements she passed through, but she knew she had heard about the Minutemen. Their goals seemed noble enough, from what she knew about them. They wanted to protect and serve the people of the Commonwealth, and that was a lifestyle she could get behind. She smiled and nodded her head. "Regardless, it does sound like a nice enough place, at least from what I've heard of it. There is a vault near there. I wonder if the Minutemen have made any use of it?" She gave a shrug and turned her attention back to his statement about the walls. "Yeah well, as big and as intimidating as it may be, it doesn't keep everything out. People still get kidnapped and there is plenty of crime in Diamond City. Still, as long as the worst of the danger remains on that side the people here are content with the small crime they have to deal with."
She waved a hand in dismissal and gestured behind her to the rest of the city. "There are a few cool places in town. There's that little noodle bar with the Japanese robot. I'm not even sure what Japanese is really, but I'm assuming it's a pre-war thing. He doesn't speak our language so it's best just to nod or reply in yes or no answers." She pointed to another section. "And that's the resevoir where all the purified water comes from. If you're desperate the guy that runs it has chems for cheaper than you can pay at the actual chem shop. If you're into that sort of thing. Not my cup of tea, personally."
She then pointed out a few more key areas of the city; the weapons shop, the Duggout, the mayor's office, etc. She then turned to him and laughed slightly. "Sorry. I'm just really used to the city. I forget sometimes that it can be a little overwhelming to other people."

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? A vault near Diamond City? Was she referring to was Vault 81 or what was now as known as Baht City? Or perhaps she too had heard rumor of a second vault somewhere in Boston. Rayi had heard some rumors about it, but he hadn’t found it yet. Not that he had been actively searching. They claimed the vault was once occupied by some gang which had peeked Rayi’s attention a little. He had been hoping to find it so he could score himself some leftover goods. It didn’t matter. Perhaps it was a good thing he hadn’t found it though. There was always a very high chance that was still occupied.
He was going to ask her which vault she meant, but his curiosity on the subject was forgotten as she continued to speak. The subject had changed to the sad state of Diamond City. “Crime and Poverty.” Was his only comment on the subject. A comment he quickly tried to hide by clearing his throat before leaning his back on the railing behind him.
Luckily, she changed the subject again. He had been told about the Japanese Robot the last time he had visited Diamond City but he didn’t bother telling her that. Instead he decided to amuse her by offering a small “Good to know” before allowing her to continue on. His eyes slowly followed the other spots she pointed out. Most of them weren’t of any importance to him, but he did keep a mental note of where the purified water was and the weapons shop. It was always a good idea to stock up on ammo.
“It makes you a good guide. No need to be sorry.” Rayi replied when she apologized to him. He probably would have said more if the voice in his head hadn’t started complaining so loudly he thought his head would burst.
‘For the love of Atom, I’m bored as shit!’ his other half complained, causing Rayi to push off the railing in his. ‘Don’t get me wrong, the girl is sweet, but it’s just not my cup of tea. We’re doing something else before I die of boredom!’ And just like that, Rayi’s other half took over.
“Alright doll, you’ve shown me enough of the city,” he turned to her, offering a sly smile. “Isn’t there anything… you know, interesting to do in this city? Clubs? Boxing? Anything?”

down in the forest we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows hands held higher we'll be on fire singing songs that nobody wrote counting sucks Rayi !! ♥ THREAD ONE ♥ | Astrid thought for a moment. "Well, there are a few things to do around here that's pretty fun. I usually just prefer to read and sleep." She giggled slightly at this, knowing that it probably sounded lame compared to his interests. However, there was one part of Diamond City that most people didn't know about. Even some of the residents were oblivious to it. "Actually, there is something. I don't spend a lot of time there but it might interest you." She gestured for him to follow as she headed back down the steps to level ground.
What used to be the detective agency was now all boarded up and empty. Well, at least that's how it seemed. She led him through the winding streets until they stood before it. She knocked in a specific, rhythmic pattern and waited. Before long, the boarded up door gave way to another steel one, and she twisted the handle and stepped inside. It looked old and dusty, the file cabinets and other things that used to make up the detective agency were simply rotting where they stood. She gestured for him to follow as she made her way toward the back of the building.
On the floor was a rug that looked only slightly less dusty than the rest of the odds and ends in the office. It was obvious that it was moved rather frequently. She reached under the lip of the rug and pulled open a steel hatch that was tactfully hidden underneath it, revealing a staircase that led down to another door. She propped it open, instructing him to close it behind them as they headed into the basement of the building that had been dug into the ground rather recently.
Once she opened the door, the dim lights of a lounge illuminated her face, and she heard the pleasant sounds of music from the bar. There were a few people here, and they all looked up and regarded them for a moment before returning to their drinks or cigars. There were a few pool tables to the side, neon-signs lighting them up in various arrays of color. The air was smokey and smelled of booze, but the atmosphere was quite nice. There was a blackjack game going on in one corner of the lounge and a poker game near the bar. The neon sign behind the bar read "Valentine Lounge".
She turned to look at Rayi and gave a shrug. "This is about as good as it gets in Diamond City. It's still early. Once everyone gets a few drinks in it will liven up." She smiled and waved to the bartender before crossing over, aiming to order herself and her companion a drink.

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? "Good girl," Rayi exclaimed with a grin when she claimed she knew of a place they could go. "Lead the way!" He gestured for her to lead on, slowly following behind her. It was about time had something interesting to do. Mr stick in the mud could complain all he wanted. Honestly, they would never have fun if he didn't take over the body every now and then. They always had to get a good night sleep, eat right, blah blah blah. If they needed darkness of the night to complete a job, then they had to make sure they got the correct amount of sleep during the day. It was such a drag.
Unlike the trip to the bleachers, Rayi's walk had a bit of energy behind it. Instead of walking queitly as he watched his seroundings, his eyes went to the people they passed. Everyone who gave him eye contact recieved a comment from him. Even a few who didn't give him eye contact got a comment. The comments mostly consisted of "Hey" and "Sup" but a few times it changed up. For example, he couldn't help but point out one of the hitting on a woman instead of working by bellowing out "If you lower your head just a little further, I'm sure you'll find her concealed weapon between those jugs." The comment was followed by a snicker and a innocent wave before he quickly caught back up to Astrid. Only shortly after that, he made the comment "Oh shit! Did you see how ugly she is? You sure she's not a ghoul?" When they passed an extremely worn down old woman. It caused a few glares from the other people passing them, but he didn't seem to care even a little.
Once they made it to the underground bar, his mood seemed lightened up even more. "Alright! It's about time this shitty city learned to a have a bit of fun." It only took him a few moments to look around before he noticed the pool tables and was instantly drawn to them. Yah sure, she had waved to the bar to get drinks, but why go to the drinks if you could get the drinks to come to you? After all, he was the customer. He had no intentions of even letting her decide if she wanted to play pool or not. He needed someone to play against and she was only one he know in the joint. "Common, lets play a game," He suggested as he reached out to grab her hand before heading towards nearest table.
Once next to the table he raised his hand in the air and snapped his fingers a couple time to get the bartenders attention while calling out, "Yo barkeep! Two drinks over here. Nothing girly." He didn't even wait to see how the bartender reacted to that demand, and instead went straight to setting up the table. "So, how long have you been stuck here anyway? I mean, do you even have any muscles in those tiny little arms of yours? You just look so... delicate. Like a flower without thorns." He snorted at that before tossing a pool cue her way, "Suppose if my training fails you could always try giving your enemies a cute smile. Bet no ones tried that on a deathclaw before. Ever play pool before?"

down in the forest we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows hands held higher we'll be on fire singing songs that nobody wrote counting sucks Rayi !! ♥ THREAD ONE ♥ | Astrid watched him head to the pool table, and she was surprised at his change of attitude. She rather liked it. She allowed him to lead her there, letting go of his hand as he grabbed for pool cues and tossed one to her. She scrambled to catch it and explelled a puff of air upward to blow her hair from her face. She laughed a little. "I come here a lot just to play pool. Try me." She winked and began to chalk her pool cue while considering his initial question. "I've been here for about 3 years now. My parents were killed by raiders and then I was eventually driven off our farm. I had nowhere to go so I wandered for a while before making my way here." She gave a small shrug as if it wasn't a big deal. Honestly, she tried not to think about it too much. She was usually pretty good at keeping those negative thoughts away, but sometimes she will see something that reminds her of her mom or dad and she can't hold back the sadness.
She readied herself to play, racking up the pool balls and placing the cue ball in front. She gestured for him to begin as she leaned on her pool cue. She honestly hadn't played in a while, so she wasn't entirely sure of how rusty she was. "Well, maybe if you train me well enough I won't have to rely on my cuteness to get my by." She gave a wink and looked up as the bartender brought their drinks. She smiled and gave him a small tip before handing one glass off to Rayi.
She sipped at hers, having grown very used to the hard liquor here. There wasn't anything girly, so Rayi's comment hadn't really been necessary. "So, what do you think of this place? Maybe we can play some cards after pool and I can win back those 50 caps I paid you forward." She gave another wink and continued to wait her turn, sipping at her drink casually as she looked around, watching the people around them.

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? Had she just claimed that she was going actually keep up with him in pool? So she did have a cockier side! He liked it. “The challenge is on. Just don’t start crying when I wipe the floor with yah.” He teased, not being able to control his competitive side. As she began to answer his question, he absentmindedly began chalking his own que, waiting for her to finish. “Sounds like a lot of shit luck in that sappy story,” Rayi replied when she finished answering his question. “Honey, I don’t doubt my training ability. I do doubt your capability to hold a weapon and actually kill someone. “
When she gestured for him to begin, he gave her a grin before turning to decide how he was going to take the first shot. The drink he was handed ended up being placed on the side of the pool table as prepared. After a few moments he finally leaned over the table and stuck the que ball, sending it flying towards the others. The balls all scatter upon the impact, spreading across the table while two balls were socketed; number 1 and 4. “It’s decent for this city, but you have lost your head if you think you’ll be taking caps from my pocket in a card game. By the end of the night you won’t have enough money to pay me.” He teased back as he waited for the balls to finish moving. Truth was, he sort of cheated when it came to card games. Having two separate minds in his head made it rather easy, especially in poker. Usually, he’d be the one playing the game, though never actually paid attention to what was in his hand. He’d simply tease and bug the other players while his other half actually made the decisions and told him what to do. They made a pretty good team. If it were up to him, he’d play cards for a living. Sadly, is other half only liked to gamble when they were particularly short on caps. Currently, he was too busy grumbling inside his mind about staying up too late to care about cards.
Rayi was actually quite happy with the shot and ended up standing aside with a bit of pride. “Looks like I’m solid balls. It’s your shot.” He gave a rather hefty grin before scooping up his drink and taking a small sip. “I never took you for the gambling type. I admit, I took you as a sweet, clueless girl who trusts too much. Believe me when I say, everyone you meet out in the wasteland lies. Everyone. Including me.”

down in the forest we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows hands held higher we'll be on fire singing songs that nobody wrote counting sucks Rayi !! ♥ THREAD ONE ♥ | She watched carefully as he made his first shot, and her eyes widened slightly, but she waved a hand. "I don't play poker, anyway. It was mostly just a joke. I can't keep a straight face, usually." She spoke as she eyed the table, looking at her options and setting her drink on the edge. She finally found a resonable enough shot and leaned over the table, striking the cue ball and watching it crack against one of the stripes. It smacked a few more on it's way to its destination, but she managed to sink one in the side pocket. She leaned up, reaching for a sip of her drink.
She studied the table for a moment longer before making her second shot, which didn't yield any results. She backed away with her drink to allow him to take his turn. She could tell she was more than a little rusty. He had sank two balls on the break, and she had only managed one in two goes at it. She wouldn't worry about it though. She listened as he spoke about the wasteland. "Everyone lies from time to time. It's human nature. I'm not surprised in the slightest."
She gave another shrug. She had been lied to plenty of times before. It wasn't anything new to her. She was very honest, or at least tried her hardest to be. That's how her dad had raised her. He was an honest, hard-working man and she had idolized that about him. He respected his fellow man and he was always willing to help those in need. Maybe if he had been a bit more cautious those raiders wouldn't have killed them. She closed her eyes for a moment, dispelling the thought. She didn't want to think about it any more tonight.
She gestured to the pool table. "Come on, Gramps. I don't have all day." She giggled and gave a small smirk.
